“Where do I begin...We were looking into a home birth mid-wife and found Anne Sommers.  Within days after our first consultation, my wife began having complications, and long story short, we had a miscarriage.  During this time, we reached out to Anne as we had a strong sense that we could trust her and depend on her, especially given the fact that we have had horrible experiences in "the system" with our first three children.  Well, we could not have imagined how right we were.  Anne walked us through this difficult time, step by step along the whole way, answering texts and phone calls promptly, even late at night, offering support and guidance all along the way. In contrast, we had tried calling (on a Sunday) an OB doc that had delivered our first child and were told by the answering service that they would not pass along our message to reach the doctor on a Sunday because we were not a current patient.  Wow. Anne felt like a mother and a professional at the same time.  The kicker is, we never signed a contract with her yet, and she never once mentioned being compensated for her time.  She was clearly more interested in our well being than in making a buck.  I have worked in medicine for 24 years now, and have become a bit disheartened with the care being given within "the system," but people like Anne remind me that there is hope for real CARE. Her loving care and support has truly turned our experience from a nightmare to one of hope.  She has taken the sharp edge off our experience, and mitigated what could have added insult to injury had we been marginalized once again by our modern day health system.
